Dunno...are they? - Fakepartofme
Only if it allows them to get a player that holds the keys to a cup like Coleman |

Hanifin and Tkachuk for Marner.
Then flip Rielly to CBJ for Seth Jones

It was pretty embarrassing when Point and Tkachuk both signed 3 year bridge deals only a week or two later for significantly less. Hell, their QOs are 1.9M less than Mitch's AAV.
So brutal. |

Rantanen - Steven_Seagull
Rantanen would struggle here. We don't have someone like Mackinnon or Landeskog, we only have Matthews and Tavares and Nylander |

Watching Rielly and Marner on the same PP makes the Leafs PP easy to defend (despite their talent). Just collapse onto the other 3 attackers and dare Rielly or Marner to shoot the puck - because they won't/can't.
You would think that something needs to change - but this is the Leafs that we're talking about. |

I found the Rantanen extension a few weeks later to be the real back breaker.
Oh, so your best comparable landed a 10.9 avg and you still maxed out at 9.25 on the same term? 🤮 |

Call Lou and ask why he didn't give Marner rookie bonuses in his ELC.
Raantenen did and made an extra 2.5M.
edit:Matthews earned 9 M in bonuses on his ELC...Marner could have made an extra 9 M on his ELC but Lou said no |

The Leafs have really good top end talent that played at an elite level all regular season. But they lack the depth necessary to make a deep playoff run. I don't think adding elder players on minimum salary is a winning strategy.
Leafs need bangers and strong 3rd line players if they ever hope to succeed deep into the playoffs. Their lack of depth was fully apparent to everyone in the series against Montreal. By the 7th game it appeared that the Leafs just rolled over, I think the top player were fatigued from having to carry the entire load and the bottom lines (except for Spezza) had no answers. |
